Purpose, People and Visibility: How Indie School Built a Consistent Whole-of-Company Approach to Student Wellbeing
About the event
Join us for an engaging webinar with Indie School as we explore how their ethos, values and people have shaped a consistent whole-of-company approach to supporting young people. At the heart of Indie School is a philosophy grounded in choice, independence, mutual respect and accountability, with a strong belief that every young person has the ability to shine. Their model focuses on developing strong relationships, exploring the capacities of each individual student, and helping young people grow into capable adults with a future they want to create.

This webinar will highlight how Life Skills GO became part of that broader vision, not as a standalone tool, but as a way to strengthen visibility, consistency and action across campuses. With access to real-time wellbeing data at the level of the student, class, campus and across the wider organisation, Indie School has been able to support a more connected and consistent approach across multiple sites. That visibility helps ensure the right information is available to the right people at the right time, supporting a whole-of-company approach that keeps student wellbeing in view. ( Indie School’s wellbeing model is supported by full-time welfare staff who provide enrolment advice, support and referral services, and deliver in-class health and wellbeing programs.) not sure if this needs to be in there

A key focus of this session will be the leadership behind that work. Backed by leadership teams with decades of experience in education and student support, Indie School has worked to build an approach that ensures every student is seen and supported. Their model is not only shaped by systems and structures, but by experienced people who understand that consistency across campuses matters, and that visibility only has value when it helps staff respond with care, clarity and purpose. Smaller class sizes, individualised learning plans and additional support staff all reflect that commitment to knowing students well and supporting them in ways that are personalised and practical.

The webinar will also centre the role of student voice and agency in the success of young people. Across Indie School’s campus model, students are treated as capable young adults, with choice and independence embedded into the learning experience. Campuses and schools emphasise strengths-based practice, self-belief, self-awareness and helping students take an active role in their own growth. When student voice is captured well and acted on meaningfully, it becomes a powerful part of how schools build belonging, confidence and success.

Most of all, this is a story about the incredible humans behind the work — the leaders, wellbeing teams, educators and support staff who bring the Indie School ethos to life every day. Their work shows that meaningful impact comes from the combination of strong values, shared visibility, and a deep commitment to seeing each young person fully. Across the Indie School website, that commitment comes through clearly: supportive environments, strong relationships, a strengths-based approach, and a focus on belonging, connection and success.
